Moulding

Palloys offers a completely in house Rubber Mould making service. Our Rubber Mould Cutters have been trained to cut moulds to minimise Wax Model distortion and divide lines. All Palloys pumped Wax Models are eye checked after pumping and cleaned to remove any surface blemish or divide line, thereby reducing workshop cleanup time after casting occurs.

Palloys offers 3 Rubber Mould types in a range of sizes:

  • High Temperature Vulcanised (HTV): Unless otherwise requested, this is the standard Rubber Mould type offered at Palloys, whereby the Master Pattern is encased in a Rubber Mould sandwich using high temperature. Shrinkage of between 2% to 4% compared to the Master Pattern can be expected using this method. HTV moulds offer good durability and flexibility.
  • Low Temperature Vulcanised (LTV): Here, the Master Pattern is encased in a Rubber Mould sandwich using lower temperature than an HTV Rubber Mould. Typically used where the Master Pattern is incapable of withstanding the heat generated into the production of a HTV rubber Mould. Shrinkage of between 2% to 4% compared to the Master Pattern can also be expected using this method however LTV moulds generally have a shorter lifespan compared to HTV rubber Moulds.
  • Liquid Rubber (LR): LR Rubber Moulds are produced from Silicone polymers and are generally two part (i.e., polymer and catalyst). They cure at room temperature and evidence a lower shrinkage factor of approximately 1%. They are recommended where the Master Pattern is extremely delicate or prone to oxidisation where a HTV or LTV is used.

Rubber Moulds are stored at Palloys in the Palloys Mould library. No storage fee is charged by Palloys for this service. Palloys makes it easy to keep a track of all of your Rubber Mould designs. Each Rubber Mould stored at Palloys is allocated a unique Palloys identifying number and the Master Pattern shape photographed which can be accessed by the relevant client after login on this website.
