Hard work pays off for young Jeweller

Tayron Scagnetti, a 22-year-old jeweller at Scagnetti Fine Jewellers in Perth, has taken home the silver medal for jewellery manufacturing at WorldSkills International in Germany.

Tayron was selected to represent Australia in the event after winning the gold medal for Jewellery at the WorldSkills Australia national competition held in Homebush in September 2012.

He then undertook extensive training alongside WorldSkills International expert Darren May (Manager for Palloys Group NSW/ACT) at the new Palloys group facility in Marrickville and with local mentor Peter Keep (Manager for Palloys Group and ABC Bullion in WA) in the lead-up to the international competition in Leipzig that attracted 16 young jewellery manufactures each representing their home countries.

All the Competitors were required to manufacture identical pieces of jewellery within a specific time frame and judged on their ability to manufacture to the highest standards. Palloys Group is a proud sponsor of WorldSkills Australia, providing materials and infrastructure for Regional and National competitions as well as training and mentoring opportunities for international candidate.

Congratulations to Tayron from the Palloys Group team.
